USB Hub and Card Reader

I bought a PNY USB 2.0 hub and card reader combo. The problem is:
whatever I plug into it can't be written to/deleted from.

I can charge from USB, read cards and so on with no problems, but any
idea how I can write/delete files? Currently I'm having to use a
kdesudo dolphin window.  :/

Oh, and I'm using Kubuntu 13.04.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
