That's a good question.  

Personally I prefer Kubuntu, but I was mentioning the 
Mint version simply because I believe switching back to 
12.04 doesn't change the repository issue.

BTW, did you know your messages are posting twice?

Well keeping or reverting to 12.04 does as the package was only removed from 
Quantal, as it no longer compiles there.
