slow kmail

Hi all,
Since updateing to 12.10 kmail has been very slow. When I click on an email 
from the list I then have to wait 1-4 minuets while the screen says Retrieving 
Folder Contents  Please wait...
This is driving me crazy,
Has anyone else experienced or solved this?
