KDE 4.8.1 showstopper - for me at least

well on that platform I have no problems (well...) but when I try out 
4.8.x is when completion disappears totally and I find no way to sort it 
out.

As I am kind of looking forward to 12.04 this is really irritating me 
(obviously also that I can not go up in KDE version).
