sorry mate, midnight here, not reading for a while now.

What you should find out is whether the problem is one of your machine 
or of a router.
If you are sure Windows does not have the same problem on the same 
machine and with the same ip-configuration (fixed ip number, same 
number), then you should focus on linux.

As far as the logs, if you lose your IP address, there must be something 
in the logs that indicates what is going on.
