Now that I have done my best to sound rude and boorish in my last post
re this thread, I thought that I would go and find the original post
which started this thread (the word "Chrome" and "Flash" in the Subject
made me to simply ignore the original post). But now that I have gone
back and read the original I will offer the following comments and ask
following questions.

Question: why have Chrome when you are using Firefox simply to "keep
Chrome around in
case Ff can't do something I need."?

What is it that Firefox cannot do which Chrome can do?

The "bouncy" icon shows up because you have the bouncy 'icon' set in
your System Settings>Application and System Notifications"

And the reason why the bouncy icon continues but nothing happens is
because the application - in this case Chrome - cannot be started.

To see what that reason may be, go into a terminal and run the command
to start Chrome and you will see the reason why Chrome cannot be started.

Why do you have this Flash-Aid installed?

For what reason?

I have been running Firefox for some 10 years now and have never even
heard of this Flash-Aid until you mentioned it and I have never had a
problem with Flash in Firefox.

So, why are using Flash-Aid?

You have really messed up your system will all these
installations/un-installations/re-installations :-) .
