Magic cookies???

Howdy;

I just did a fresh reinstall of 10.04, and unarchived /var/mail,
/home/userdirs, and etc.

Now when I try to use Kuser, it takes my password, and disapears.
When I try to use it from
a shell window, I get the following message:

/usr/bin/kuser
Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 keyInvalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 keykuser:
cannot connect to X server :0

Is there a fix for this?
