problem with thunderbird attachments .doc-file association

It is supposed to, but I seldom see Thunderbird do so, where Firefox seems to do better

I thought that thunderbird respected the usual File Associations settings
that you can set in systemsettings.  I think that is what I used, but maybe
I'm thinking of chrome.
