Installer blank screen problem

Hi all,

I'm trying to install Kubuntu 11.10 from the live CD on a PC which currently runs fine with Karmic. (I want a clean install, not the potential hassle of multiple upgrades).

Trouble is, once I'm past the boot screen I get a flickering cursor for a second or two, then nothing. The monitor goes into power saving mode. So I'm guessing that it's when the installer tries to start X, it's not detecting my monitor properly and sending nothing to it. This PC is only a couple of years old, it has an nvidia dual-head DVI graphics card and is connected to an LG monitor/TV (I've tried both outputs and I don't have another monitor). Like I say it used to work fine with Karmic. This nouveau driver is nothing but trouble…. :)

Does anybody have any suggestions how to get this install to go?
