Just to be sure, Jerry should type "sudo parted -l" to check if it is  
indeed in the first partition. "sudo blkid" will not show in the right  
partition order. Having it as /dev/sda1 does not necessarily mean it's  
really in the first partition.

BTW, I was quite certain it needs to be in the first primary partition  
when a ubuntu developer disgreed with me (in another list) saying he has  
even put dos in a logical partition. Perhaps he has done some hacking as  
Waleed mentioned before. Since I am now not sure, I did not mention this  
earlier.
