Adding home folder/trash can to desktop + plea for simplicity

Obviously you also enabled the option "Different widgets for each 
desktop". If I don't enable that option the icons don't disappear.

I can confirm that strange behaviour. It looks like a bug to me. I also 
tried it with a Kubuntu 12.04 daily live CD (from some time last week) 
with KDE 4.7.3 and it is still the same behaviour. Is it the same on 
your FreBSD system?
