Random short freezes

This happens to me when I'm running Kopete. If someone sends me a 
message while I'm away, then when I get back to the computer the GUI 
behaves somewhat erratically, with these little freezes you mention. The 
Kopete notification icon in the notification area spins slowly and 
slowly until it stops rotating.
When I click the notification icon to see the message, things will 
slowly come back to normal, but it still takes some minutes until the 
freezes go away. Sometimes (not very often), I have to restart KDE to 
get the GUI back to normal. There's a bug opened on this on KDE's 
bugzilla.
