Hi Myriam,
Well, as I stated to 'FarSight Data Systems' I used KDE on another
distro and therefore associated *.rpm with KDE and thus thought that
kubuntu (KDE) may also use *.rpms.
I have never used kubuntu as I learnt to greatly dislike KDE - but I
have nothing against those who still insist on using KDE. (I stopped
smoking some 12 years ago but I don't think anything less of those I see
smoking.)

There being no real difference is what I always assumed. The only
mistake I made is to propose - not state categorically but to simply
suggest to cover my butt - that the drivers for the V300 may also be in
*.rpm format and not *.deb.
But now you have educated me, I will never make this mistake again. Never!
