Why is kmail using so much cpu power

What it is I believe, is kmail rebuilding its indices, and it seems to be 
made worse and more frequent when the mail is incoming in a fairly busy 
stream.  Here, kmail does not do the mail sucking, I use fetchmail for 
that, and procmail for the Spamassassin handling, so all kmail needs to do 
is pull it from /var/spool/mail/user and sort to the folders.  If it had to 
do all of fetchmail/procmail/spamassassin stuff, it would be frozen and 
unusable for extended periods of time when it was doing the mail pulling.
