I've been using Thunar recently (there are some unresolved dataloss
bugs in Dolphin that have bitten me more than once). Thunar has file
preview, though I do know know until what file size. Be sure to
disable Volume Management otherwise it interferes with the Device
Notifier plasmoid.

I know the situation. My laptop has about a dozen dead keys, they
don't work in US English nor Dvorak! (just kidding, George)
