well...
most of ubuntu, kubuntu, edubuntu n xubuntu architecture supports amd n ati
chipsets..
if u are using intel, then u will be facing some problems..
from my experience from using ubuntu, i had never came across problem when i
use ati graphics,
but after i changed to nvidia graphic card, there's no driver supported for
ubuntu, which i've mention earlier that if u use amd & ati, u'll not be
facing any problems.
If u notice on the d/l site, theres only amd 86_64 bit architecture to
download ( if ure trying to install ubuntu 64 bit on ur machine ).
i did search n read about amd 64 bit architecture n yes intel does use the
same architecture as amd 64 bit architecture, so by right there should be no
problem when u are going to install on an intel platform. But what do i get
when i finished installing ubuntu on my intel platform is 'just a blank n
black screen'.
so the point is i'm having problems too running ubuntu 10.10 on my intel
platform. i guess intel doesn't have much support on ubuntu rather than
suse, redhat etc. I can agree with u that theres something funky about X in
10.10 release.
:)
