I'm running kubuntu 10.04.1, all my ip addresses are static.
I invented my own /etc/hosts, installed it on all machines
and then used KNetworkManager where necessary using
the manual setup - works fine - has done for years. Not
forgetting the router of course, have to make sure it
agrees with your /etc/hosts. One of my machines is running
wince 7 and even it seems to be happy.
