CD and DVD RW not detected‏

I have 2 devices that are working properly (functioning on windows and
read CD's) but they are not detected on Kubuntu 9.1 AMD 64 bit

they are :1- ASUS CD-S520/A5 (CD ROM)

2- LG CD RW>>>HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H42N



how can I get them to work and fix this?
