Thats a bad advice!

First by doing so you are killing the X-server, KDE and all other
children programs, not giving them a change to save any data,
resulting in possible data loss and corrupted files. Second
ctrl+alt+backspace is disabled by default (at least in Karmic) and
third the X-server has nothing to do with the KDE menu.

If you must reread any config files, log out and in again or restart
the PC, its much safer. Only use ctrl+alt+backspace if your desktop is
completely locked up.
