This probably isn't much help to you, but I can connect to MSN using Kopete. I'm using Kubuntu 9.10 with everything up to date. 

My system also has the ipv6 address - IPV6 is standard in Linux and it shouldn't affect anything. You don't really need it though (yet).

My initial guess would be something in your router or at your ISP.
