Moin,

I used to used to use my Dell Precision M 6300 with kubuntu 8.04 for many
years. The wlan interface worked fine:
0c:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN
[Kedron] Network Connection (rev 61)

After I updated my machine to 10.04 the wlan interface seems to be disabled:
root at mars:~# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11abgn ESSID:off/any
          Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=0 dBm
          Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off

pan0 no wireless extensions.

root at mars:~# lshw -C network
  *-network DISABLED
