William, thank you so much for helping.

It's just like you said. My PCM at Mixer was set to 0% and, as I raised
it, sound turned to work just fine.

No more problems with sound now.

Thanks again.

I'm not that experienced in using Linux (guess you all have seen that already), but since I discovered its design programs (like Inkscape, Gimp and Scribus) I've started working on them and stopped using Windows for good. And I was happy using Kubuntu Karmic, it was fast and safe.

I thanks you guys a lot for answering my petty problems and doubts. But I've encoutered a new problem, and was decided to re install my Karmic version. So before I do that, I once again ask if anyone here can help me solve it.

I've been through forums where other users had the same problem, and used some hints (like editing Firefox "about:config" and others) but couldn't fix it. Then, I tried to edit my launcher of Firefox to run as "sudo firefox %u" and it worked, but I couldn't do the same to the other users in the same computer (such as my wife). Other sound similar problems happen in Snes9x-x and The Mana World (both installed trough Kubuntu repositories).
