File check process stopped during boot up.

When I tried to close down the browser, the bar that contains the "down
arrow", the "up arrow" and the "X" for closing the application was missing.
The page was locked in the full open status, so the page was not just pushed
above the desktop top-of-screen position. The only way I new to close the
page was to shut down the computer.

When the computer was booting up, it stopped for a file check. It was different
this time because the items were blinking continuously. When the computer got
to 61%, it just stayed there blinking. I waited for a long period and finally
pressed the "esc" key to continue the boot process. The computer opened to
the same browser page with no bar at the top that would allow me to close the
page down.

This was a distraction I didn't want to deal with right now, but I managed to
get to an email application to contact you.

If I try to open another browser, it opens to the same page wiithout closing
capability.

I suspect the two occasions were related. That is why I spoke of them
together

Is this familiar to anyone?

Steven
