No sound after installation of Karmic.

I have a quad 64bit 8gb ram, nVidia 9600 and ASUS Mempipe motherboard with 8.1 
sound.  Karmic 9.10, kde4.3.4.

Sound worked fine before upgrade including pulseaudio and analog (Jaunty).  
Nothing is muted.  PCM2 is checked in Channel configuration.  It is plugged in 
and turned on with the volume on high.

Is there a CLI that might point me in the right direction?
