Need lib not in repository

Hi

I am setting up kubuntu in my new box.
I use an old program that needs the libstdc++.so.5 library, which is no longer 
available in the kubuntu repository. 

I tried a symbolic link to the existing libstdc++.so.6 library in my machine 
ln -s libstdc++.so.6 libstdc++.so.5
but it did not work

Any idea?
