You still haven't told us what don't work. I have a Wacom Bamboo and
it works without any configuration when using it as a mouse and almost
everything when working in Gimp.
The System settings module [1] mention previous is good if you want to
configure the buttons on the pad and/or pen.
What are the instructions you trying to follow?

I'm using Kubuntu 9.10.
