How to get useful bug fixes for KDE 4.4. without automatically upgrading to 4.5?

If you keep the ppa, then at some point that ppa will have newer KDE releases
for Lucid. 4.5 is still a ways off, btw, there isn't even a release schedule
for it as far as I can see.

Only if you enable the "Unsupported Updates" in Kpackagekit - this is the
Ubuntu backports repository
