I have an Epson Perfection 1640SU which came with an adapter for slides.
It replaces the normal cover with one that has a built-in light for copying
slides.  The nice thing about the copier is that you can select to do
the photos in any size (dpi) that you wish.  This also allows  for color
(colour in the UK) and B/W in both negative and positive formats.  It
comes with a slide holder and several negative holders for different
sizes of film, i.e., 4x5, 35mm, 2.25x2.25 (known as medium format), etc.
So, look around and see what your preference is and go for it.
