I wouldn't say disaster, but as you point out Qt4 was designed to use
less resources than Qt3. It is not clear if the opensuse system in
question was running Qt3 code or not, which is very possible
considering all the custom Suse tools carried over. I would love to
see such a comparison between a stock Kubuntu 9.10 install and a KDE3
version. I will see if KDE3 can be run on 9.10 without loading Qt4,
and if so I will test on my own equipment.
