Hi

Please do as Waleed Hamra suggested:

First try to login at the console. Press Ctr-Alt-F1 where you will get a 
command line login prompt. If login succeeds the first look at the local X 
error log:

less .xsession-errors

See if the is anything obviously wrong there; maybe even post the file on this 
list.
Also have a look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Report back IN THE SAME THREAD what your results are.
