no upgrade offer (with KDE 4.4.2 packages?)

I am running kubuntu 9.10 with the unofficial packages of KDE 4.4.2 installed 
from Kubuntu repositories.

For some reason I am unable to upgrade to Kubuntu 10.4 RC.

I run 

update-notifier-kde -d

but I get a notice „No new upgrade available“.

I wonder if this will continue after the release of Lucid in a few days. Does 
anyone have the same problem?
