Kubuntu 9.04 setting date and time automatically

How am I supposed to get the computer to set the date and time automatically 
in 9.04?

I've gone to System settings > Date & Time ticked the box next to 'Set date 
and time automatically' and clicked on apply. When close the window down and 
go back to it the box is unticked again!
