I have experienced many of the things the author described.
After about 12 years, I finally gave Gnome a serious try and for the past 2
months I feel like I've finally been able to get my computer to work for ME
instead of Googling for fixes that should have been fixed long long ago.
I couldn't get Knetworkmanager to work for me, it wouldn't even list other
wireless networks around and I had to resort to using ifup/down. On the other
hand Gnome's Network Manager works and finds 4 other networks in my area and to
top if off, Gnomes Network Manager finds all the free wifi hotspots such as
McDonalds and the Public Library, where-areas I couldn't do that with KDE's
Network Manager for some reason. :-(
But, on the other hand, I do not like any of Gnome's E-Mail applications so I
installed Kmail. I also installed kasablanca for quick ftp.
P.S. I am not trolling. I am merely sharing my experiences from the last 2
months.
