If the application in a GUI app, then it *should* put a menu entry somewhere. 
Though sometimes the name of the executable is not always obvious, you 
should be able to type in some part of it in the search area at tho top of 
your main menu (or via alt-f2 keystroke). But if the app is a command-line 
app (as quite a few are) then you would have to run them from Konole.

What specific apps have you installed that you cannot find?
