Just out of curiosity: do you have some leftover amarok2 
settings/database from a previous attempt? If so, you might want to 
delete them/back them up and start out fresh.
I had a huge problem with my (smallish) music collection, which 
evaporated after I removed the appropriate bits of the old database.
