When I click on the wicd icon, then Preferences---> Advanced there is a drop-
down menu "Driver" with following options:

wext (this is the default)
hustap
madwifi
atmel
ndiswrapper (I recall that this was the only one in KnetworkManager)
ipw
ralink_legacy

I have no idea what are these for.
