K3b is not burning DVDs

Hi all,

Kubuntu 9.10 / KDE 4.3.2 / K3B 1.68 (cdrecord/wodim 1.1.9)

on previous versions I always used K3b to burn my DVDs and everything went 
well (more or less).

Now, with my drive:
DVDRW DRW-3s165, firmware CSG5, supporting also DVD-R, I cannot burn the DVDs.

I read in the k3b.org site that there is a known bug concerning a conflict 
between the drive, well "cdrecord" and the "automounting" process. This is 
what I read:

"Q: Writing fails with the following cdrecord message over and over again: 
Error trying to open /dev/XXX exclusively...
 A: You are using a patched cdrecord version which tries to open the device 
exclusively which fails because your are probably also using automounting.
 The solutions are to disable automounting altogether (this is the recommended 
solution as automounting can cause other more serious problems with CD/DVD 
writing) or to install a non-patched cdrecord version."

Please find attached the bug file I got from K3b.

My questions are:
- has anybody experienced the same problem?
- How can I disable automounting? and if i disable it, which are the problems 
I'll get?
- How to eventually "downgrade" the cdrecord file?

And the last one: is it better to buy another drive? :-)
