Bugs was a pretty unique cartoon for his time. Not always what would be
considered "politically correct" today. He wasn't always the "aggressor"
in the cartoons. Most of the time it was Elmer Fudd, the great hunter,
that brought on the issue, but over time he had many adversaries. Bugs
spoke with a definite brooklynesque accent. Quite often he would be
leading his protagonist on a wild chase and then you would see him
standing there munching a carrot and he would say "What a MAroon" as he
watched. From the context it was obvious that he was saying the other
character was a moron. Out of context it doesn't make much sense unless
you grew up with Bugs. They weren't just for kids either. I still like
to watch the original, unedited, versions. Most of the old ones have
been edited to make them more politically correct for the times.
Archive.org has a fair collection of the oldies but goodies.
