Bugs was a pretty unique cartoon for his time. Not always what would be 
considered "politically correct" today. He wasn't always the "aggressor" 
in the cartoons. Most of the time it was Elmer Fudd, the great hunter, 
that brought on the issue, but over time he had many adversaries. Bugs 
spoke with a definite brooklynesque accent. Quite often he would be 
leading his protagonist on a wild chase and then you would see him 
standing there munching a carrot and he would say "What a MAroon" as he 
watched. From the context it was obvious that he was saying the other 
character was a moron. Out of context it doesn't make much sense unless 
you grew up with Bugs. They weren't just for kids either. I still like 
to watch the original, unedited, versions. Most of the old ones have 
been edited to make them more politically correct for the times.  
Archive.org has a fair collection of the oldies but goodies.
