The fstab entry is there, so it is recognized by kubuntu.
Have you tried Mark Greenwoods suggestion?
also after you try Mark's suggestion, let us know if it works or not, and
could you give the output of:
ls -la /media
You should have a folder named cdrom and a folder named cdrom0
make sure the permissions on the 2 folders are correct.
I'm leaning more towards Mark's comment to what your problem may be, but it
never hurts to check to be sure.
