When I started recovery from the recent crash, the plasmoids that I had on my
desktop disappeared, including the clock on the panel. I don't currently have
an update icon. I don't seem to have "add & remove software" either, but I do
have KpackageKit. It has an entry that says "Check and Install Updates", but
clicking on it or the shield-like icon next to it does nothing. When I click
on Apply all avaialble updates, a window opens with a yellow triangle and !.
It says, No package cache is available - System Settings
The package list needs to be rebuilt.
This should have been done by the backend automatically.
Details
Package cache could not be opened
There is no instruction how to rebuild the package list that I can see, or
perhaps understand the language. I remember trying to do this very thing
earlier today and got stumped right here.
I do not believe I left anything out. Any ideas?
