New DVD install leads to no libdvdcss error

I replaced by DVD player and now I am getting this error. I have
reinstalled libdvdcss, so that is not the problem. I tried deleting
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-cd.rules and rebooting but no luck. If
I boot with the disk in the player it then does not show up on my
desktop but does play with Kafine without the error. Removing the disk
and placing it back in results in the error showing up again.

So what should I try next?

Kubuntu Hardy 8.04 all up to date 64 bit.
