strange Adept Manager problem

Tried that, also uninstalled/reinstalled. No difference whatsoever. If I
use "Add/Remove Programs" (rarely do but trying this and that now) I get
the same "flicker" on "Edit Software Sources", then nothing happens.
Wonder if there is a ".adept" somewhere that is buggered
