Not quite true as my xorg.conf contains settings for my touchpad (Dell Inspiron 1525):

Section "InputDevice"
	Identifier	"Synaptics Touchpad"
	Driver "synaptics"
	Option "SendCoreEvents"	"true"
	Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
	Option "Protocol" "auto-dev"
	Option "HorizEdgeScroll"	"0"
	Option "MaxTapTime" "2"
EndSection

Section "ServerLayout"
	Identifier	"Default Layout"
	Screen "Default Screen"
	InputDevice	"Synaptics Touchpad"
EndSection

Maybe somebody would like to help clear up this whole new Xorg mystery?

Blessings,

Nigel
