I haven't seen any evidence that the Intel graphics problem causes lockups - 
only very poor rendering in some cases - and suggesting using uxa (I really 
thought that had to be UXA, but I could be wrong) should at least be 
accompanied by a _strong_ warning that UXA is known to cause instability on 
some systems, so be absolutely sure to keep a backup xorg.conf, and 
preferably a second terminal ssh'd into your system - I couldn't get a 
console or X after trying UXA.
