That was the reason for installing Jaunty in the first place.  Intrepid had 
difficulties with my motherboard and video cards.

This makes sense to me too, but what about my 780a chip and the video cards.  
They are the only reason I installed Jaunty.  Also there is the fact that I 
have 8gb of memory installed.  None of the former applications can deal with 
that.

Before the update that affected my video, video and sound were better than I 
have ever experienced.  I am pretty sure that last update was the culprit, and 
the last instruction fixed that rather easily.

Then I have been doing better on my own, because I updated and upgraded a 
couple of times before asking for help.  And there was one instruction you 
gave for code that did not include requesting the updates and upgrade.

Actually, that is exactly what I have been doing.  The only reason for 
contacting the list, is in the event what I am doing is not sufficient.  When I 
lose email, I panic a bit.  It is my only contact with the outside.  Everyone 
with whom I communicate with is long distance, and I don't have long distance 
service.  My only close contacts are for food, medicine, and transportation.
