Problem with Microdia webcam in ubuntu 8.10

Hi

I am a non-technical computer user.  My webcam ID (0c45:6242 Microdia
PC Camera (SN9C201) is not working properly under ubuntu 8.10. I followed the
instructions as per the instructions given in http://www.64bitjungle.com/tech/microdia-webcam-0c54-experimental-drivers-installation-and-testing-part-1/--



Same webcam worked fine under  ubuntu 8.04.  The out put of lsusb is as follows:

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0c45:6242 Microdia PC Camera (SN9C201)

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub



Although the webcam is detected in cheese the picture quality is very poor with and video is very slow (fps is very low) .



Can any one offer help to solve this problem?
