If it was just after, then it was not related. The fastest that I've
had a honeypot email address receive multiple spam messages was about
a week. You will get the occasional single message right away, but the
real barrels of spam come from botnets (generally compromised windows
machines) and it takes a few days for your address to be harvested,
distributed to the nodes, then spammed.

If the spam has just now started, then say thanks, as you've been
lucky. Start a filtering program now, as it will only get worse. I get
between 2000 to 7000 spam emails per day (yes, per day) to my personal
email. To the gmail (you don't think that I'd post to mailing lists
with my personal email address, do you?) I think I get somewhere
around 50-100 spam messages per day.
