Jonas setup your Sending GMAIL account in Settings -> Configure Kmail ->
Accounts -> Sending.

In the General Tab create it as follows:
Name: (whatever you like I just use GMAIL)
Host:	smtp.gmail.com
Port:	465
Encryption:  SSL
Under "Advanced"
Check the "Server Requires authentication" check box then put your gmail email
address as "userid at gmail.com" without the double quotes, and password (choose
to store password or not), and then select "plain" under "Authentication
Method"

Then obviously back under "Identities" setup your Gmail ID and under the
Advanced Tab select the "GMAIL" account as the Sending Transport.

You should be good to go.
This is exactly how I have mine setup.
