Static IP on LiveUSB

Hello all,
I have created a live-usb of Kubuntu 9.04 and use it in persistent mode.
On one of the computers, I have to use static IP. So I change the
/etc/network/interfaces to write the IP address allotted by the admin. Then
I restart the networking and the internet works fine.
However, as soon as I reboot on the same computer, all the settings are lost
and I have to re-type all the settings. Any way of keeping the changes?

Regards
