Ubuntu or Kubuntu

Hardly your opinion "only" (this is a Kubuntu group - surely nobody would 
feel flamed) :-)  But yes, I'd like to know why Joel thinks it's best to 
start from Gnome (I have done a few times, and I can't imagine why it's best 
- I just always seem to have more ready access to Ubuntu install CDs)
